        Hello,

I am thinking about buying a Sieg KX3 mill that uses Mach 3 and I see that the spec for the PC specifies a 32MB AGP/IDE-E Video card.

In practice does anyone know if  this is critical ? I intend buying a secondhand PC that meets the spec if possible or buy one and modify it to suit.

        Thanks Peter

I run Mach3 Turn on a second-hand Dell mini-desktop PC.  I haven’t a clue what video card it uses but frankly the Mach3 graphics quality is mediocre by today’s standards so I wouldn’t think it matters.  I use Win XP and have no networking running on the machine.  However I think the best thing to do is look at the Mach3 support forums, and if necessary ask a question – I’ve found them to be very responsive and helpful.

Not as critical as when Mach first came out.

One of the complaints when it first came out was it needed a high end PC for the time, most of the secondhand ones , the Pll’s etc were not up to the job.

However as PC have improved Mach’s needs have remained steady with the result that even the lowest spec used machine is streets in front of what is needed.

We are buying ex-education Dell’s in, with a legal working copy of XP and the hologram c/w license number for less than you can buy a copy of XP and they have a standard parallel port and don’t rely on an add on card.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected that was the case so I  have got an IBM machine with  a graphics card for less than the cost of XP in the pipeline and we will see how that performs. Best estimate on delivery for the mill is end Jan so plenty of time to prepare for the happy event
