      1) Is there a photo availabLe of the cOmpleted engine showing the steambox and valve crank end?

      2) The Drawing of the cylinder shows a passage Going from thE steam chest down to the Base of the cylindeR.  While it is Obvious steam has to get into the cylinder, what is not obvious is size and location in the cylinder wall.  Any information on this would be gratefully appreciated.

      3) A quick hint at the dimensions of the base would also make this model easier to construct.

          Hi There,

There is a discussion of this project and it’s drawing omissions elsewhere in the Forums in the area of the Model Engineer magazine section.  It’s not difficult to find using search facility..

There are also updated drawings on this website (at the bottom RH column) of the home page.

Most topics are discussed somewhere or other if you look around.

          Regards

          Terry

Usual practice would be to connect the hole from the steam chest to the cylinder by milling away a small part of the cylinder wall.

            Something like this

Mill out say 1/32nd deep and remove a small amount of the end cover spigot to match.

Actual position is just by eye to make sure you don’t break through the cylinder wall.

Thanks to you both, TerryD and JasonB

I am new to this forum so Terry your website guidance  is welcome.

JasonB:  Without any drawings I was guessing what to do… the assumption on what to do was similiar to what you described.  Thank you for the confirmation and input.

              Now back to the shop.
