For those that could not make it here is a selection of photos that I took, maybe someone who is more into Locos or watercraft could add some of those subjects as I mainly concentrated on stationary & IC engines.

But the forum software usually scales the image to fit dont know

Most of my images are 1000 pixels wide, and they never spill-over on the iPad.

Yep, definitely an IPAD related issue, running the latest OS and I'm getting exactly the same as David, ok on the Macbook and Windoze laptop. Viewing with the latest version of Chrome on all but same issue on IPAD with Safari.

Direct kinked slideshow works fin on IPAD

Hi Jason, many thanks for going to the trouble to post photos of the exhibition !!!! As an ex Gardner employee, I was particularly interested in the half scale single cylinder oil engine that was in your collection. Would you by any chance have any more details of the builder?? It would be an interesting engine to build, maybe a bit big for my machine tools but nice to own. Regards, Jim.

For info. On the forum page; the embedded slideshow has a wide black border at the left [and presumably the right] edge, with the navigation arrow on it. … Unlike Jason's screen-shot, which has the arrows overlaying the photo.

Jim C, Sorry I did not get the builders name on that one. But I can tell you that it is built from a set of castings that were available from the now defunct "Alyn Foundry" but the 1/2" O size is available through the Anson Engine Museum which I think that particular set came from. They also hope to have some "Retlas" castings for the new opening season and that is an engine loosly based on a Gardner vertical single and more to follow.

Best place if you want more info is Model Engine Maker Forum as there are a few members there who have built the horizontal Gardner and Graham Corry (owner of Alyn Foundry) posts there, he is also very knowledgable on early gas engines. This is a build thread of the Retlas that has some reference to horizontal too. You may have to join to see the attachments in some of the posts but thats easy enough.

PS If anyone wants to see a few more Models then there are some of Cabin Fever which is also taking place this weekend that are also on MEM forum, yesterdays shots in this post and likely more to follow later.

Jason seems to be the first person to work out how to put a photobucket carousel in an iframe on this site. I say thanks on behalf of those who it works for, and note that he's got links for ipads and direct to the album for anyone it doesn't work for.

At this show the majority of models are on club stands, as I don't belong to any of those clubs you won't be seeing my engines there. If you want to pop over for Model Engineer show at Brooklands or the Guildford show you may get a glimpse of it and a few of it's stable mates.

Ahh yes our RailEx is similar

To pop over for a show would be great but would cost an arm and a leg (or a lathe that I have my eye on). I would love to see some of the ME and MEM forum member's engines (and spend a few days in John S's workshop)

My wife's family hail from Stornaway so maybe our next trip may have to be planned to coincide with a ME show somewhere.

Great photos but that slide presentation is really annoying. Let users move on when they want to not force them to find the stop button every time the page is opened.

Great photos of the D10 but did you see the triple in the larger launch just behind it which was probably the most photographed and stroked model in the show. How can adults not know that they shouldn't touch exhibits? It is incredibly bad manners to stick your manky fingers on someone's beautifully polished brass work yet these people had no consideration for a fellow modeller's masterpiece. Perhaps all club chairmen and ME/MEW could make a simple reminder of etiquette at the next meeting / editorial.

Hi, I saw most of what Jason took photos of today, but I was also impressed by this mosaic made with square Lego bricks fitted onto square Lego base boards.

                                                  img_0017 (1024x768).jpg

It consisted of about 11 boards high by about 13 boards wide and each board was put together by children following a printed out picture and they were encouraged/helped by their parent/s. The picture was no doubt created on a computer by an adult/s and was in connection with an organization called Fairy Bricks, who brighten the lives of sick children through Lego.

                                                  img_0016[1] (1024x768) (684x512).jpg

In fact I thought it a good thing to see many children there actively doing different practical things rather than playing on a mobile phone, even watched one child for a while having a go on one of the ornamental turners machines.

Also got most things that I wanted from various trade stands.

                                                  Regards Nick.

Well done Jason – thanks for the photos – there is no chance of me getting to a show any time soon and this record brought to mind all those past expeditions! I think you made a good job of capturing the atmosphere and, in view of the difficulties which I well know exist for getting good detail in exhibition conditions, made a fair job of of showing some of that too.
