I would not cut anything until at least 4450 has been published, at least that way we will know that all teh crankcase drawings have been provided.

Looking forward to seeing teh pattern being made.

I have just been contacted by George and the hole in the top of the crankcase should be tapped M3 or whatever similar size tap you have to hand such as 5BA, 5-40unc.

He also mentioned that the engine can be seen running on youtube which is worth watching as he gives a good descriprion of all the parts of the model.

It would still be nice to know the dimensions! Where did you get the dimensions from?

The problem is that the Illustrations in ME should not be trusted as they are not always in proportion so what may look one size on the drawing could actually be something quite different. They tend to be drawn to suit page layout, column widths etc. This is definately a case of "don not scale from drawing"

There are also some nasty metric conversions or rounding up by the drawing package going on as who would make things 6.4mm dia. Those with experiance will no doubt opt for 1/4" but others may get caught out.

Give it another 24hrs to see if George replies, if not I'll PM him for the missing dimensions

At the end of the day, does it really matter? As long as the component looks like the original, is functionally satisfactory and structurally sound. I am sure George did a bit of interpretation to arrive at his model design.

Probably not but when the piston strikes the valves because you guessed the height 0.5mm too small it will matter.

Like I said earlier I would not cut metal until we have all the details and then you can assemble it all in Alibre and make sure things rotate freely

Just an update, I have heard back from George and once one query is confirmed I will post the list of items.
