Lead Screw

Hi Guys,

Daft question, for the life of me I cannot seem to find the lead screw details for a Super 7 !

Does anyone know ? Its not in the user manual that I can find.

8 TPI Acme left-hand thread.   5/8″ diameter. ( I think. Have not checked.)

You can buy standard threaded rod to suit here https://kingston-engineering.co.uk/ and probably various other places.

I think it may be 3/4″ – I’ll go and check.

Yes it seems that mine is 3/4″ as well. Why on earth isn’t this info in the manual !

Probably because its a user manual and need to know basis etc. Yes I had it right first time, 3/4″. 5/8 is the core diameter and the diameter of the plain bit on the end. There are other suppliers of suitable threaded rod mentioned in old threads if you search around the old forum.

It is in the manual but not specified in the parts list:

Be sure to get left hand thread if ordering  a length of threaded rod to make a new leadscrew!
