Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me.  I have this old Emco Maximat Super 11 Lathe and Milling Machine, which has only been used very gently 2-3 times a year for the last 40 years.  It even still has it’s original instruction book.  Having now retired, I am now selling it – so I was wondering where would be the best place to sell it and also, approx. how much people think it might be worth.  Please see photograph as there are numerous tools/beds/collets, etc.  I would be most grateful for any communication regarding this.  Many thanks.EMCO maximat super 11 2

Looks like a nicely kept unit. There is a classified ad section on this forum that you could post it on. Or eBay could be a good way to find out how much the market is willing to pay for it, and the rather nice collection of accessories with it. You can search past sales of similar machines on eBay and get an idea what they have sold for in the past.

God I dreamt of getting one of those a few years ago but none around at the time so I got a Warco, what a let down in quality!

I would be looking to get 4 – 5K minimum, they really are a top quality machine, unfortunately a lot of people really don’t appreciate that fact!

Facebook market place has a big following and coverage but only give over the machine when the money is in your bank, eBay has the biggest exposure , fees can be high, lathes.UK is a favourite machine selling site and for a quick sale dealers will rob you blind. Good luck.

Hi Tony, thanks for your message.  What a shame, it would have been so nice for it to have gone to someone like you who appreciates the quality.  I will follow your advice. Best regards, Tim

As with Tony above, I think I’d have a word with another Tony at lathes.co.uk.
Fixed price advertising and will probably give a good idea of valuation.

                Good Luck

                          hello tweare,

does your Emco really have to go?

The reason for asking is that more than once we have had  customers come to us having parted with all their  machinery for one reason or another, either retirement, selling of a business or in a recent case, to tend to a partner with dementia – everything went and he then came to us when care was arranged to restock his workshop!

I would suggest that retirement per se isn’t a good reason to part with such an impressive item.

Has it really got to go?

Thank you Hugh -and Tony for your kind thoughts, however if you look at my website https://www.wearemodels.co.uk, you will see I was more of a commercial artist/modelmaker and therefore not an engineer and probably never used this machine anywhere near it’s full potential – it deserves someone who will treasure it and use it properly. Cheers Tim
