Lathe lub oil

Can anybody enlighten me as to which lub oils I should be using on my Harrison M300 as the page from the manual ( attached) all the arrows point to the top box , also where is the best possible place to obtain small quantities of these lubes.

Castrol Hyspin 32 in the head gear box, Shell VG200 gear oil in the lower gearbox and Rocol Ultraglide X5 (a slideway oil) in the carriage oil chamber.

 

The oilgun should point to the top trow as does the next two symbols. The page you are showing is incomplete and wrong. . Symbol 4 should point to row two and  symbol 5, which is the blacked out oil can should point to a third row which includes Vactrea No 2,  EssoFebis K68 etc

 

These are all specified essentially on your diagram anyway.

 

I have a late model M300 and  use the oils I have mentioned.

 

Sources I must confess I bought 20ltrs of Hyspin, Shell VG200 Gear Oil from your local Shell garage and the Slideway oil from Buck and Hickman. Look at Buckandhickmaninone web site.

I would concur with KWIL that the page in your manual is misprinted.  As stated the top three icons should point to the top line and the bottom icon to the bottom line.

 

In my M300 I use the following:

 

Main gearbox: HYD68AW – equivalent to Shell Tellus 68

 

Powerfeed gearbox: MO220 – equivalent to Vitrea 220

 

In the apron and other slideway areas: SL68 – equivalent of Shell TX68

 

I buy all of the above from Hallett Oils in Wolverhampton.

The people there are friendly and helpful. They made a special very thin oil for my surface grinder spindle a few years back. I also use their Biokool14 coolant; it seems to last very well with no nasty smells.
