Hi,I recently won this small lathe on Ebay, I can’t find a makers name
on it so I was wondering if anybody could identify it for me, it
measures 21″ from headstock to the end of the bed.

         Thanks.

Can’t say I’ve seen one before, you could probably have a trawl through Lathes.co.uk  to see if they have it listed.

          Heres the pic

            Hi Bernard,

It looks very much like a Flexispeed Meteor 2 or perhaps an earlier or later version. I bought one as a kit back in 1970 (I think) and still have it, although I don’t use it any more. The countershaft on mine uses another headstock casting. I’ve still got the instruction booklet and drawings for it somewhere.

Just found the advert for it in ME. They were made by Sartglen Engineering of London and the kit was £24.9.6 plus 15/- post and packing !

              Hi There
Well done Bernard for posting photos.
The lathe looks more like a Simat 101, a slightly later version of the Flexispeed.
              regards David

You’re probably right David. Bernard’s has got ‘posher’ handles than mine!
