Hi, there, my name is Paul Ross, Just signed up. I just thought Pop in and introduce myself. I am into using my Lathe to make Irish Flutes for music. I recently acquired a Warco Lathe and found that I had trouble obtaining a V belt for the 918. Found an American on eBay at around 20 Dollars and 20 Dollars Postage and Tax that, 's around £39. Thought id let people know that I contacted a Firm in England called Simply Bearings, and they have agreed to sell the same belt in England at support@simplybearings.co.uk £23 they import so same wait but half the Price! Cheers PaulR

If you measure the circumference of the belt and take it along to your local belts stockists, they will tell you very quickly the section (Probably "A" or "B" unless it is a polyvee ) and find you a replacement in a matter of minutes, a lot cheaper than many other sources.

A local stockist is unlikely to sell you poor quailty. You are local and can tell all your friends, and they would like to stay for further business..

The belts for the 918 are not the usual standard belts, they have a very small cross section and they are made by Gates in the US. They are very pricey and £20 or so seems to be the going rate.

There are two sizes that are used on the 918, one a little shorter than the other (Too cold to go out and check the sizes!). Make sure you get the correct one!

            Andrew.

5m710 which Amadeal sell for £18 at the moment and the 5m730 that I've seen for about £26 Inc p&p.

The holes for the motor on my lathe were drilled a bit low, so I've ended up using one of each as there's not enough adjustment to get it and the pulley in the right place for either belt to work nicely in all the positions

The Gates Polyflex belts are not hard to come by, the 710 is a bit more common than the 730 and can be had for under £20 and available without the wait
