Large stock suppliers

Hey there, I usually get my materials from EBay but no sellers seem to sell larger stock of solid square/rectangle (steel/aluminium/brass) than 50mm.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a source of big stuff, low volume in the UK?

Rapid Metals are an alternative I have used, good supply of different metals in stock.  I occasionally just drop in, alright drive there, and just wait for what I want to be cut.  They also used to have bags of bar ends from commercial cut to length orders.

I use this place for L168 (4-5% copper hi strength alu. ?aka 2014?), he does some larger offcuts, also other specialist materials..

metals4u and steelexpress do a reasonable selection of cut lengths and full bars online. I used to use the local Macready’s steel depot  until they changed to new owners who didn’t like cash sales under one tonne. Three changes of ownership later and that site has closed, although the successors have apparently got some space in another industrial estate a couple of miles away.

There was a problem when Tuffnells went into administration, since they were the default (almost only) rapid shipper of longer items in the UK. But they’ve been bought out and are back in business. If you buy full lengths of steel online, they are likely to be the shippers.
