        Thank you for your kind offer, I think I need a crash course in electric motors.

        If you could PM your address and let me know when it would be convenient for you to have a look at it, I’ll bring the motor, old switch and wiring which I’ve pulled off and we’ll take it from there.

        Thanks again

        Clive

              Clive a great offer from Ian, If the answer to 6 leads into the motor when dismanteled provides a answer this may be interesting ? A mystery at the moment Unless 2 Wire to Thermal overload .

                e7371268-b52f-47d3-a845-684df2b85cfc.jpegI have found a new diagram for a newer type of unistop switch though I don’t think it helps much

                  What can I say guys.

                  Thank heaven for the internet and forums like this, it sure as hell beats trying to sort things out for yourself especially before it was around, all your help has been very much appreciated.

                  I take my hat off to Ian, I know one has to put their faith in someone and I was praying there would not be a big flash and something burnt out on the motor after making the connections he suggested, because at the end of the day it would have been my gamble.

                  He was spot on and all from my bit of a sketch and photo of the existing switch.

                  In my mind I thought, single phase motor that will be 3 wires live, neutral and earth, job done. Wrong!

                  Hopefully when I take it to him the mystery of the six wires will be solved, its better than watching Hercule Poirot.

                  I’ve no doubt Ian will put his findings on this thread as I’m sure he will be able to explain it far better than myself, I’ve no doubt a few of you will be interested to know the outcome.

                  Incidentally I apologise if you are seeing three columns of text, I’ve been told it’s because of typing posts in another program, then copying them across and I could have brought across extra formatting or it could be I copied something across from another website ie. the clamp on meter.

                  From what I’ve been told there is a paste from word button that can avoid it happening, I’ll have to find the button.

                  My thanks again fellas

                    Guys

                    Further back in my novel, I said I'd had to contact Axminster Tools again about their DOL starters below is their reply, just to put everyone in the picture:

                    Thank you for your email

                    I have checked stock and please find specs below..

                    3401912 = 750w 6 – 8 Amps

                    340193 = 1500w 14 – 17 Amps

                    340194 = 2250w 17 – 21 Amps

                    I have arranged our website to be amended.

                    Kind regards

                    Axminster

                      Help,Please.

                      I have a Kity combination machine, planer/thicknesser, saw, and spindle moulder. It has three magnetic clutches to run all parts off one Kity motor. Unfortunately one of the coils has an open circuit. I cannot find any body to rewind this coil at a reasonable price. Any suggestions.
