Hello all, I am just embarking into the world of model steam engines, having had an interest in them since a small boy. I did an apprentiship in tool making and have worked in and around engineering in various forms all my life. I know run a refrigeration and air conditioining in Mallorca Spain. My workshop has a nice Colchester Student lathe that I got from a college in the UK who had put it in the trash! Cost me shipping to get it here, its hardly used and came with a box of face tooling. I also have a nice Europa Milltech vertical milling machine.

The project I am heading towards is a 4 1/2" Burrell Traction engine using the drawings and castings from Plastow. I have bought the drawings and am now spending hours studying them.

Im about to ask for some help with the boiler design and build, hopefully someone on here can answer some questions.

Any advise out there in general will be greatly received.

        Mark

Hello mark & welcome. I cannot help you , but there will be plenty of forum members that can. Good luck with your Burrell.

          Steeve.

Hello Mark and welcome to the forum. Like Steve, I'm afraid that I cannot help with the Plastow Burrell but I'm sure that there other people on here who will be able to help.

                Welcome to the forum Mark,

That's probably the best way to get a lathe – if you get it before it's rained on!
