A nice old lathe. A QCTP to suit an ML7 should work, the model 000 is popular or you could make my design if you have access to a milling machine.

As Neil says, a QCTP for a 7 Series Myford should be suitable, since they have the same 3.5" centre height as the ML4.

Cannot remember if the stud for the toolpost is 7/16" like the 7 Series, (Brian? ) but from what folk say on here, some sort of modification is needed to either toolpost or stud. Almost inevitable if the toolpost is new since it will be Metric and going onto an Imperial machine.

Hello Howard,

I had to sleeve the ML7 size to fit my ML4, (it was long before the general switch to metric sizes) but it worked admirably. It certainly beats the tooling clamp that Myford provided with the lathe.

That old lathe went on to do much of the machining for my Dore-Westbury milling machine which has served me well since build ~ 28 years ago

My ML4 has a Dickson QCTP fitted, which has been very successful. The top bush which came with the toolpost is drilled 7/16" to suit the ML7 toolpost stud, so I made a new bush drilled 3/8" to fit the ML4. If you judge the thickness of the bush flange correctly, the handle of the adjusting key will lie in a convenient direction.
