I see from "The Engineer" magazine that General Electric engineers have 3D printed a working model gas turbine which has run to 33K rpm, which is just above the normal self sustaining rpm for a model turbine. No info on the fuel used.

EOS M290, latest model to the 270 quoted (I assume) costs $700,000. That is installed but doesn't include the inert gas supplies needed! The Chinese are going to have to work pretty hard to bring that price down to be part of Ketan's stock.

            Would be nice though sad.

I'm sure John Stevo can bodge something up with his laser and an old forklift motorwink 2

? I thought the Video (JasobB) seems to be laser cutting rather than printing ? – Am I missing something indecision

The laser melts a thin layer of the alloy in powdered form, next pass melts another layer that sticks to the first and so on

I'd be interested to see if it lasts as long as other model aircraft turbines seen at all the shows over the ten years.

It seems you need a 200W Yb laser and laser cutting CNC machines of that power are about $30K… so perhaps it might not take as long as we might think.
