Looking through a few forum pages, on some I can see pics but on others (for example JS's bodger's lodge) I can't see them. Is there a setting somewhere that is not flicked over or is it just copyright issues and not being able to send them out of the UK

          Hi Michael,

I can see the photos in Bodger's lodge, I am running an old computer with Windows XP and the latest version of Firefox. On my new laptop with Windows 10 the photos also display Ok. I don't think copyright issues are the problem, I see the photos from outside the UK.

When I am using other operating systems and other web browsers some photos don't show up on the screen. What kind of operating system and web browser are you using?

I use an addon to a firefox browser call requestpolicy that both shows and allows/disallows the links to specific websites requested by the page (eg facebook + the many other trackers are blocked) – most people post images hosted by the website but some use their own sites – JS and even Neil(Stub maddrell) use their own sites – others use the ‘free’ image hosting which bof course are not free but inject tracking code (+ worse) into the page along with the image – I suspect that your ISP or your browser is set to a high security level and needs to be told that some sites eg JS + Stub are allowed tho they are right to be very wary of some ‘free’ sites

XP with the latest version of FF.

I tried loading requestpolicy and it worked – sort of. I could see the pics only when I told requestpolicy to allow the site open slather. That allowed facebook and a few others access (some that I'd never heard of). Restricted access and the pics vanished – even with stevenson-engineers.co.uk added to the destinations whitelist.

                Out of interest, Michael …

Can you access the Stevenson Engineers 'Files' page directly ?

And another (photo) thing – why do some photos end up as "clickable", yet others don't. For instance, the photos in Bodger's Lodge can't be clicked on (to open in a new window) yet many of the others can, such as the milling machine motor thread..

What causes that???? Is that caused by uploading from an album vs an external link?

merely right click on the little flag and select those sites you want – JS + Stubs seem safe enough to be permanently allowed but I’d never open up to farcebook
also check on how you allow images – one setting is only from the same site as the text – you need allow load images automatically but control access via requestpolicy as this blocks facebook etc but does allow those ‘blinking’ adverts used to bring in some revenue to appear

Muzzer, the ones that are clickable are hosted here and will open at their full size when clicked. JS hosts his own, I use a mix of here and photo bucket, the PB ones won't be clickable.

                        It is as Jason says.

Locally hosted photos will open at full size up 1024 pixels in the largest dimension if clicked.

Remote hosted pictures will open full size if you right click and select 'view' or 'open in new tab'.
