Hi – I have fitted an ABB MT2000 3ph. motor to my Myford. Using an ABB ACS 300 inverter. I cannot get much top speed and have very little torque. Pretty much useless . If anyone could advise. Would be most grateful.

          start with basics…

What ac voltage in- inverter voltage out….240-240? Or 240-415

Has the motor been correctly supplied? Is it wired correctly? 415 for Star or 240 for Delta?

As JR said. You need to match the motor to the Inverter with regard to Volts Hz etc. If they are new and supposedly matched I suggest you call the supplier.

John – Bit out of my depth here as you may have gathered. Says on the inverter :- Input – 208/240V, 8.9a, 48/63 Hz. Output – 0/u1in V, 4.3a, 0/500Hz.

So output voltage varies between zero and the input voltage (the unit doesn't include a transformer to step the voltage up).

To match this the motor would normally be expected to be wired in Delta (3 straps wired across the terminal box, with no connection between them). Each output from the ACS300 goes to one of the 3 straps in the terminal box. And remember the Earth connection.

Have you tried their Technical helpline? Most invertor suppliers provide telephone technical backup for their products and their engineers are very good at guiding you through the setup for their products.

OK folks thanks for the info. Got the manual and spoken to their helpline. It seems the consensus that I have it wired in star and not Delta. Will rectify in the morning.

All issues resolved. Working properly now. Re-strapped from Star to Delta as you advised. Thank you gentlemen for your kind assistance.
