FWIW, as a mechanical engineer with an interest (but limited expertise) in electronics I found this book to be very absorbing. I could imagine it would be much the same to experienced electronics people too.
The quality of the illustrations is superb and there are many showing the inner, mechanical construction of components. (That for a Nixie tube is wild!)
Not a bad price in the UK for a quality book …. and the internet’s wide.
