      Hi

Yesterday I took the injector off my 5" gauge loco to give it a good soak in citric acid to clean it up.

Two cones have appeared in the cleaning dish. They were a loose fit in the injector, held in place by the pipe connections (Steam in and feed to boiler).

My problem is that one injector cone has a slightly longer and thinner end (the internal end) profile than the other.

Can anyone suggest which end is likely to be the steam feed end cone and which the output to boiler cone so I can re-assemble correctly?

      Many thanks

      John

          Hi John,

the longer, thinner cone will be the steam cone and the fatter one the delivery cone. The delivery cone should have a pronounced flare on the inside edge (the edge inside the injector body).

            Thanks John.

            All nicely re-assembled now.

            Most grateful for your help.
