I have just tried to post on Anthony Knight’s thread … and was greeted with this pop-up message:

      .

      .

Is someone tinkering with the forum software ?

      .

Edit: __ It looks like the problem was caused by me trying to insert a hyperlink.

I think your browser has detected there's something in the clipboard that's incompatible with the basic editor provided by the forum or the HTML standard. Could be the whole font, control characters inserted by a word-processor, an out-of-range unicode character, or an ordinary character not allowed in a particular context.

The 'Paste From Word' button strips word processor control characters and only pastes plain text. Good chance it will strip duff unicode too.

Using Notepad has the same effect. It's a basic text-editor that doesn't allow anything clever, so typing into it always produces clean text output.

Possibly the URL is corrupt? Again, basic text only, plus characters that have to be encoded, and others that are unsafe. Encoding rules here.

            Thanks, Dave

… The funny thing is: To the best of my knowledge, I wasn’t doing anything significantly different to what I have done hundreds of times before.

Having followed Anthony’s link to ‘Practical Electronics’ **LINK**

            https://worldradiohistory.com/Practical_Electronics.htm

I searched for EMMA and copied the resulting URL

… that’s when it all went wrong.
