This is a large disk  6 5/8 inch and indexed for 70, 80,96,100,112,120,144,360,  The bore is 5/8″

It came with my Pittler lathe box of odds and ends but definitely does not belong to it. Not sure of the material, it could be stainless steel as it always remains bright.  Does anyone recognise it’s origin or machine it belongs to?

Its probably nickel plated I have a similar one 9ins in dia but in brass. could have been used on your lathe attached to the rear of the headstock and using a cutter frame powered from an overhead drive for cutting clock wheels and pinions. Out of interest my one has a makers name on it. Hines of Norwich who also made lathes etc.

It looks very much like a direct indexing plate for fitting on the outboard end of a watchmakers lathe.  Something like this:

I think your right and it’s plated as inside the bore it looks like brass or bronze, It was definitely not used on my lathe though as it comes with a dedicated indexing spindle which permits from 2 to 8000 divisions using combinations of worms and wheels

Nice to see the full 360 holes on a plate … that’s unusual, and I would have thought it a very useful aid to identification.

Looks like Lorch made a similar style of plate
