All my Glanze tools have the M2.5 but they are not the ones that take the triangular tips, I have the 80degree Rhombic shape or round button ones. I do have tools that take larger size tips by other makers and these need a larger screw
The chipping is likely to be from misuse they should be strong enough to stand upto our type of use but all are easily damaged if knocked, run into stationary work, used at wrong height or run beyond centre.
There are many variations of tip to suit specific materials and depth of cut but a general purpose one should do fine for all our work on steel and iron, for nonferrous then the sharper edged ones specifically for nonferrous are very good but not sure without looking if thay come in the triangular shape.
I have a bit of a mix of tips on the rhombic CCMT I use Seco, Kennametal, Sumitomo and on the sharper nonferrous CCGT ones I'm still on my original couple of Glanze ones but have some Sumitomo in reserve
Never had a myford one to know what they used for screws.
I doubt you will be able to drill the holder out and tap for a larger size as the holders are usually hardened and the larger screw would not have the correct steep angled CSK under the head.
