And thanks also Harold for the link to your site – the pictures and explanations look like a goldmine of useful information that I am sure I will refer to on a regular basis.
The first description of building a Stuart 10V I can find is a series by ‘Exactus’ entitled “Building a Steam Engine from Castings”. The first instalment appeared in the 2nd October 1958 issue (Volume 119). Typical grainy photographs of the time, though. I have a feeling that it was issued as a reprint at some stage.
As Geoff suggests, there is a MAP publication called “Building a Steam Engine from Castings” by Edgar Westbury . The 10V was the first project I built, made with the aid of this book, it came with the odds and ends with my old Zyto lathe. In the front of the book it states that Exactus was workshop name of Model Engineer staff. Oliver Smith did the construction and Edgar T Westbury was the author. There are several used copies shown on Amazon UK for about £5.
I can recommend the above book, i used to it make my first project (a 10v) also works for the 10h as the machining principles are practically the same.
