      I m waiting for delivery of a Chester Conquest and how good it was to see this article. I am selling my Amolco attachment too for cash to buy a cj12 300
      ..it just so nice to see something positive aabout t these machines.All the warnings are so usefull but I was wondering why anyone bought them! Thank you Alastair and MEW

            As Ady1 said, welcome to the nuthouse!!

            If minilathes were half as bad as some people will insist on telling you, they wouldn't have sold so well for so long. Mine is over 10 years old and still working well.

            They will never be a Hardinge, Smart and Brown, Schaublin, etc etc, but they are great little machines.

              I have a 7x c3 lathe on order, these little machines suit my ablity and skill level. It may not be the lathe I'd like but it is the one I can afford. I expect to tweak it a bit but quite enjoy that aspect.
              My little Flexispeed has paid for itself many times over so now I can justify something a little larger with a few more features.
              We would all like a very fine Ceriani/Myford (insert prefered maker here) which we could pass down unto our childrens children but 'beggars/choosers' etc.

                I spent ages looking for a flexispeed..Right up to last week when I found a little Pools special which needs work on it so I ordered the Chester..
                you ve got a telescope too..just put one up for sale to buy more workshop with..6 inch refractor too big anyway..
