Guildford's website says that their track is 1405 ft long, so a whole number of laps should entail travelling a multiple of 1405 ft. This doesn't work if the train had to back up, as several did, but I have it from a spectator that the winner didn't. His reported 12 laps should have totalled 16860 ft, but the results table says 19710 ft. I strongly suspect that the laps should be 14, which would give 19670, well within sensible accuracy. Similarly, I suspect the runner up should be 12 laps (not 11 as reported)

If anyone who was there is reading this, how did Danny Hayward manage to do 7310 ft in only one lap? If he was repeatedly backing up to try again he must be very determined, this equates to over 5 laps

An interesting point Duncan ! Four entrants are shown as doing one lap – ranging from 2450 to 7310, was it a VERY hot day ? Noel.
