        <p style=”text-align: left;”>But 22 lots of £94 is, so it’s not wrong. I’ll admit it’s misleading as you’re not likely to win all 22</p>

Ah but! 94 x22 = 2068. Typical marketing department maths.

It’s not the maths, its the word games, the main heading reads like you will be in for a prize of over £2k but in fact you only get part of that.

They also forgot that not all their titles are related to bikes that people may want to polish, though this site could do with a bit of a buff up.

Yes that was actually my point … I just expressed it as a mathematical error because that’s the basis of the lie.

At a guess, it’s because you used your device’s inbuilt formatting instead of the menu bar in the composition pane.

[ that’s certainly what does it on my iPad ]

It’s the updated version of the smileys that appeared on the old forum if there was no space before (or after) parentheses.

Hi, I got the same invitation a little while ago, but I’ve no intension to respond, which will give the rest of you a bit more of a chance to win one.

It’s an asymmetric relationship. Morton’s are giving away over 2000 quid to their readership. We as individual readers could get part of that.
Our Astronomical Association used to have a ‘million pound lottery’ at meetings. The lucky winner received a scratch card with the chance to win the million. It was a bit of fun and always raised a smile.

I know, Martin … but the opening statement [which I ringed in Green] is simply untrue … unless, of course, I have 22 concurrent instances active on the Mortons database.

It’s true from Morton’s perspective when the you refers to the plurality of their readership.

But that’s my point. It’s ambiguous. And logically speaking the you must be plural otherwise the maths is incorrect. So taking the entirety of the missive Morton’s are correct. Not really a case for trading standards I would have thought.

Many English statements are ambiguous. Dennis Nordon found a brilliant one from a private medical outfit that stated “We operate on your doorstep” and he wondered if that’s because they had no facilities of their own.

                                          🥴

The £2000 is the general heading.

It is after they say “Hey Michael” that the price drops to £100.

It is quite clear, and plain wrong.
