A commercial advert posted in the forum itself!

There is usually swift action by jason when there is a commercial advert in classifieds, how will this one be dealt with I wonder?

Don’t panic – posted by Morton’s, who own the website.

        🙂

          Absolutely!

Why should they need to resort to sneaking adverts into the participants conversations

I would prefer Darren uses his time fixing forum software problems, even if its only a spelling mistake.

It’s the advertising that pays for the forum, including Darren’s wages. Be careful what you wish for.

If the way of the future is a forum littered with ads, I’m gone anyway.

Yes, it’s annoying to click on a thread and find it is just drivel..

Its not what I wish for, it is more to do with the fact that last year we we were promised a new improved forum and we were (eventually) given what must be the worst (software) on the internet.

I fully accept the site having adverts, it was just the sneakiness of Morton’s slipping one in as if it was a post from a member.

Well it’s the first example of click bait I have seen on this forum.

I don’t think any other threads started by members could be described as pointless, they might not all be of riveting to read but that is because everyone has different interests.

That’s what I meant by a “forum littered with ads” …. ads masquerading as legitimate forum posts. Sidebar ads I can live with – as long as they aren’t in-my-face pop-up’s or flashing for my attention. And I will never, ever apologise for using ad-blockers (this is war!)

(Then again, I’d be happy to go back to the early days when websites were a labour of love and not yet another way to get money from me).
