Nice find, I have only seen Mentos dropped into a Coke bottle

            ….avoid wind….

Not for me – "a fart a day keeps the greens away".

Ah, but is a solution of Mentos in Coca-cola (other products are available) any good for pickling newly silver-soldered boilers…?

(Sorry – I'll get my overalls.)

Talking of wind and effervescent beverages though…

… Unusually for me I treated myself to a dinner-time pint one Sunday. Among the perhaps dozen other customers in the pub was a group of four men who all ordered roast dinners – which arrived as sizeable servings and looked delicious.

They left shortly after. One had eaten about a third of his, the others had barely sampled theirs. The bar-maid asked "was everything all right?", and they assured her it was as they walked out. She, and the rest of us, all looked at what they'd left, and at each other, agreeing about the appalling waste.

I pointed to their table. "That's why," I said. "They were all too bloated by about three pints of fizzy lager each, first, to be able to eat anything"!

                . . . .

Well Coca-cola contains H3PO4, phosphoric acid, so I guess it should work, it has a pH between 2 and 3 so may be a bit more acidic than citric acid. Wouldn't citric acid or battery acid be cheaper?

Haven't tried it, but have been told that Coca or Pepsi Cola make very effective flux for soft soldering. Presumably the acid content. An action akin to the HCl in "killed spirits" or Bakers Soldering Fluid

                  Any confirmation?

Well, brightening bronze coins in Coke is an old trick! Rather slow though.

Dunno about Coke, I'm still testing Eye of Newt and Toe of Frog. Doesn't work well, I bet my Maiden's Water is faulty…
