Ok I should be patient, but I can't wait any longer!

My shunter is now nearly complete aside from some touching up of the painting (me /= Chris Vine) the windows, fit the doors, add a lamp and several pounds of lead ballast on top of the engine.

I've since fitted windows and done some more painting – notably red buffers so it replicates the colour scheme of another, totally different, Hudswell Clarke shunter.

Unfortunately it left it looking more like a toy than a model.

Inspired by the finish on Ray MaxMahon's Harlandic I have started spraying it with Rustoleum matt varnish which actually gives a lovely satin finish. Much better – and it doesn't highlight every dink like gloss does!

Pictures will follow when spraying complete.
