There were two search engines embedded in the old site but I haven’t yet found out how to do so on this new one – looked at help topics but didn’t find anything useful ther.
Any chance of a run through?
Thanks,
Nick
The embedded search, only one, is better than the old in that it searches everything, not just titles. Otherwise it’s basic.
The old forum’s second search added this site’s name to the users search term and then called Google. This can be replicated from the browser: in your address bar or Search Box try “site:www.model-engineer.co.uk Nick Clarke”
This tells Google (and most other search engines) to search for Nick Clarke in http://www.model-engineer.co.uk
Don’t expect perfection. At the moment Google may not return a good answer because the forum was/is blocking bots, or asking them to come back later. This is to stop bots overloading the new site by reading all 600,000+ posts at high speed. Google’s search index may not be up-to-date. If so should come good after this site’s performance has been tuned and bots are allowed in.
