Well I had intended to move Peak4’s posts to here so they would not get lost and could easily be linked to. However the wonderful softare as failed again and the “Move” option has lost them into the deepest depths of what is almost certainly the worst software and implementation going.
This is all a bit of an experiment, as we’ve been having a slight problem moving/duplicating posts.
Several members have had log-in issues and tried to cure them by deleting this site’s cookies, but accidentally removed all their cookies, including bank logins etc.
I’ve put a few posts together for several browsers on a way just to remove this sites cookies, but use them at your own risk.
I’ll provide links in a subsequent post for Opera, Firefox, Chrome, & Edge.
Please only use this topic for adding solutions/help for alternative browsers, such as Apple Safari.
Please note that all methods work OK for me on up to date versions of the browser when I posted this.
Use them at your own risk, but none have caused me any problems.
When the Mod’s “move/duplicate post” option behaves again, this topic might contain the actual screenshots.
Does anyone use other browsers, who might appreciate a quick guide? I can’t assist with Apple products.
Now back to Opera, where I was stuck in the endless loop, as per the first screenshot; Follow the advice in the green box, and clear Opera’s cookies.
N.B. Only clear the cookies for this site, not all browser cookies.
I replied to an earlier post on this about Firefox cookies, but this screenshot is specific to Opera; other browsers will have a similar setting.
I repeat again, only clear cookies for this site.
Having done so, I then refreshed my log-in on Opera, and received the correct log-in screen to enter password etc.
As you can see, I’m now back in and posting this reply from Opera browser, so clearing this site’s cookies cured the problem.
All is sweetness and light
Happy New Year
Hi, well today I’ve had this loop trouble with logging in, and I tried Bill’s idea, but it didn’t work. So I tried logging in on my Win 11s, and had no problems, therefore I looked at all the privacy and cookies/site permissions, and found the only thing that would make the difference was in privacy, search and services, and then down to clear browsing data, then into, “Choose what to clear every time you close the browser” and looking into “Don’t clear” I found on this laptop, that this site was included in the list, but not on may Win 11s, so I removed it from the list on this laptop, and the problem has gone away. Will just have to see if it stays away in the next few days.
I will just say that I’ve had this website in the “Don’t clear” list for many years, and I guess there must be something in this new forum’s software that isn’t compatible.
A similar set of screenshot for Avast Secure Browser; I think subtly different to some of the previous guides.
Top Right, Customise & Control White arrow in Red dot
“Settings” from the right hand drop down, not “Security and Privacy Centre”
Left Hand side “Privacy & Security” (yes confusing isn’t it)
From the middle “Site Settings” NOT “Privacy Cleaner – clear browsing data”
“View Permissions & Data Stored Across Sites”
Navigate down to this site’s data N.B. Do Not Clear All Data via the green text in the box
Use either the three dots, or the right arrow to Clear Data and/or Reset Permissions, but double check the bit I’ve highlighted Yellow, to make sure you only change this site’s data.
Double check the confirmation box, hopefully job done.
Bill
