Wow, this simple request has generated a lot of lateral thinking. From shoe laces to sash cords and guitar cables. Much food for thought, but I'm sure I'll find something suitable.

The shoe laces have it !

After a bit of trial and error getting the right size braid and tube I finally ended up with Cotton Tubular Braid Undyed, and this is the result:

Quite pleased with the outcome and thanks again for all your varied suggestions.
