No pics yet ! To wire the motor you will also need a DOL starter to protect the motor,a fuse is useless in this role. The dewhurst is NOT to stop or start the motor ONLY to reverse the direction of rotation !!!! We need to know what type of starting circuit is used. This should work, Red and black should be run windings, blue and yellow start windings. live to term 1, neutral to term 3, A or A1 black to 5, AZ or A2 red to 7, yellow to 2 and blue to 6. ALL metal work MUST be earthed ! If you run in reverse REMEMBER your chuck is screw on and can be unscrewed ! Good luck Noel.

See previous posts about Dewhurst switches. Not all motors are reversible

If you type Dewhurst into the keyword box , then 'go' , you will see all you need in those posts.

Lucky you, a dewhurst AND a good Hoover motor!

Mine is on a Higgs motor and is in a super-hard access place so I will try some pointers

There are only 2 contacts which need changed for reversing a motor

                    I did an AEI here

Most important of all is to put it onto a RCD circuit plug, my old unit started fine when I picked it up and shorted out when I set it up back at home

You may find helpful information in ME 4643 ! DO NOT use it as it would seem it has been used – as a stop start switch – indicated by the plug ! From the circuit on the terminal cover one might assume split phase starting which I doubt, the hoover motor is cap start, the diagram does not show the centrifugal switch or capacitor which form the start circuit ! The round hole in the cover and button in the picture indicate it may also have a thermal cutout. Noel.
