Thank you Kwil and Bazyle for taking the trouble to assist me, I have started to look properly inside this beast and the gear positions are clear as you point out, I hoped to find answers to the following: Headstock Lubricant. type and quantity, preload for spindle bearings, size of spindle bearings( I do not want to remove and possibly damage further a bearing that cannot easily be sourced) I understand that many questions could be answered by measurement, thread sizes, but I wanted to know what they should be before 60 plus years of use and abuse! one T slot has been broken by using filed down hex head bolts to locate the compound and she has a weird tailstock. I hope my input will be positive and give many more years of service, but I need the help of more knowledgeable and experienced mentors.Thanks again both of you.
