Hello as a new member and new owner of a hobbymat I am just finding my feet and collecting parts for the machine. I have cleaned and overhauled a nice example that has been neglected for some time.

I wonder if someone can assist me, the milling machine that came with the lathe is working fine but I cant workout how to use the feed handle as it seems to be locked in place. The feed works from the top wheel and I can not see any locks.

Before I open up the gearbox which I will have to do at some point to clean and re grease the gears I wondered if there was something I have missed. I take it the feed handle should move the chuck up and down?

      Thanks in advance

      Chris

          Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum. If you don't already have a manual, there is a Prazi-group on groups.io where you should be able to find a manual.

There is an allen cap screw which nips the quill under the head casting, undo this and the handle will drive the quill about 50mm downwards, this can be used for drilling or setting the height of the milling cutter, the handle has a graduated ring in 0.02mm increments but is not very precise, the wheel at the top of the pillar, is graduated in 0.02mm increments, this is again is not very precise, when it comes to picking a precise drop in the cutter height you need to revise a better way to control depth, however, in general, it works, you could make a simple measuring device with a micrometer or a dial test gauge and attach them to the machine, go to Prazi groups io and look at the photos, all will be revealed.

              Thank you Thor and Stuw

I will have a look tonight funnily enough there is no mention of it in the manual or on the parts diagram.

Thanks ever so much for your help.

              Regards

              Chris
