I have been playing about with my Hobbymat Milling machine. But have realised it just isn't powerful enough to cope with the things I need to make. it's fine for soft metals like Brass or aluminium. Not so for hardened steel, stainless, etc.

So reluctantly I am forced to sell. it's in very good condition and has a mill chuck fitted a few accessories like collets T nuts manuals etc. I was just wondering what would be a good price to sell it at and if anybody was looking for one? it's a brilliant machine for model railway and stuff all works fine.

As always it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay and the best way to find that out is to get it in front of as many potential buyers as possible so they can bid. eBay is a good way to do this though you'll have to pay a fee, as with any auction. Put it on with a lowish starting bid like £100 and see how it goes. Don't lose heart, the winning bid frequently gets made in the final few seconds.

It does seem as though you have not owned this machine for long? If recently purchased, getting your outlay back should be a good guide? If purchased on epay you should expect to lose a good percentage in auction costs, so it might be better to go the ‘twitface’ marketplace or perhaps the ‘sticky’ tree site.

I have had it in my workshop since about 2018. but just hadn't got round to doing anything with it apart from cleaning it up and trying to work it. Giving up and doing other stuff, then trying again. Only recently i wanted to make a specific part for my Bike so thought I would really go all out to try and find some info on it and joined this forum to see if this would be the way. I then quickly realised that the Hobbymat is really only suitable for model engineering like steam trains. Brass and other soft type metals. Which is what my late father in law used it for… So was just wondering what sort of price would be a sensible amount?

They seem to fetch around £500-£600 on ebay for a good one.
