I am just finishing with motorcycling and once the last bike is sold I will have the cash to throw Warco's way. So now is the time to start the hobby I have lusted after for so many years. The only experience of lathes I have had is with a big old Ward 7 capstan we had in the works back in the late 70's. My fave loco is the Schools and so I have already purchased the drawings for a 5" gauge from Poly. I am in the steel construction game and so dealing with some miniature metalwork will make a nice change. Once the bike is gone I need to re roof the garage, insulate and then get some machinery. I apologise in advance for asking lots of newbie questions and look forward to getting to know you all.

      David.

Welcome David and please DO ask lots of questions, we can all benefit from those. I'm sure others will agree that the first thing to do is to search out a club so that you can buttonhole the boiler inspector to make sure that your boiler will be acceptable wether bought or self made.

Another advantage is that a club will have a track for you to run on.

Please keep us up to date with progress and, ask away.

          Brian

            Hi Brian,

Thanks for the welcome, progress so far is that I have just (yesterday) been accepted as a probationary member of the Welling and DMES. I have only been to the club a few times but already feel at home, a great bunch of people.

            David.

Yes Lofty, not easy. A bit like loosing a faithful old dog.

                        Cheers,

                        David.
