      Hi from Napes, Itay!

Just purchased a Myford ML7 and am having fun getting it up and running.

Probably most urgent question for the group: opinions on changing out 2BA oil nipples for oil cups on the ML7? It's that or drop some cash on a Wanner oiler from what I can tell.

      Regards

      Chris

Not an ML7 but have changed oil the oilers on my S7 for proper oilers….

the original lube system even with a good oil gun leaves a lot to be desired….I'm sure theres a nipple (see below) that will be a close enough fit….

those hard to reach ones around the compound lide etc have been taken away and the holes are covered with those modern super magnetic discs…..so now flood oiling is the name of the game…..

A couple of oilers used on my other lathe are converted 45deg grease nipples….kept the body of the nipple and turned little pots and lids from a bit of brass…….just fill em once or twice a day…..lovely oil seepage can be seen after a min or two…..my bigger lathe has it's own coolant /suds system which will be filled with 46 grade Hydraulic oil when reinstated unless someone out there has a better product…….. none of that water based milk anymore…..

Chris, welcome to the forum, there are at least another couple of members from Italy, maybe more? As far the oil gun goes look here at Press Parts they do one that works quite well, one problem with it is it does not fit the rear spindle bearing nipple as well as it might but a bit of clean cotton cloth over the nipple helps.

                Welcome to the Forum.

Lots of help and advice on here, on almost every subject.

With regard to oil guns,my choice would be to buy a Reilang..

There are three sizes available, and they are GOOD!

It works in almost any position, does not leak, and puts oil where you want it, unlike the Myford oil gun that i had which seemed to put oil everywhere, other than where it was needed.

@clogs Neat idea just giving up on oil fittings and covering with magnets. Do you have any swarf entry issues?

@Emgee/Howard – thanks for the oil gun advice. It's a shame that shipping from UK to Italy usually costs around 20-30 euro. That's stopped me from picking up a number of cheap add-ons to my ML7.

@Noel This is probably in my future if I don't go the oil cup route.
