Hi all, another long time viewer of the mine of information on this forum, after a house move I am in the process of setting up my first permanent workshop in a 12×6 shed. Looking to expand to getting a small mill and at some point replace my mini lathe with something bigger now it’s portability isn’t required. Current project is finishing up a 3.5” bantam cock following a boiler replacement which has been on hold for far too long due to lack of permanent space.

Hello Mark. there are several members on here that are in and around Cambridgeshire. Are you a member of the Cambridge club? I vistited them a couple of years ago and was very impressed with their operation.

Hello Mark and welcome. You'll soon fill that shed if you are anything like me!

The only parts of Cambridgeshire that I am familiar with are St.Ives and Huntingdon whilst doing some traction engine research. I live between Derbyshire and Nottingham shire.

Please let us know how you get on with machine hunting.

            Brian

Hi from a fellow Canbridgeshire-ite. If you have moved from a distance away, here are a few of intereseting visits for you. Duxford Air Museum (especially the workshop hangers), Nene Vally Railway, Cheddars Lane Industrial Museum (Cambridge) and The Whipple Museum (Canbridge). Obviously you will have to wait until things open up again but that should be in the summer. There are lots of other interesting places but that will do as a start.

              regards Martin

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I’ve moved locally within the area between Cambridge and Huntingdon but haven’t been in this region for very long so I still need to visit all those local attractions! I have a three year old so free time is at a bit of a premium but I hope to start taking him to those places this summer and to visit the Cambridge club too with the aim of joining as I’ve heard good things about it from work colleagues. Hopefully this summer!
