      Hi everyone,

My name is Michael and I'm new to the forum and really I'm new to model engineering but just joined as I've wanted to join to find out more.

Great to meet you all and willing to learn off everyone on here!

          Welcome to the Forum.

Lots of experience and advice on here on all sorts of subjects.

There will be Model Engineering clubs inn the Birmingham are, so find one and join. You will meet fellow enthusiasts, and learn a lot from them, about general principals and techniques as well as detailed info about how to get the best from your machine.

Welcome from me Michael, I'm a born and bred Brummie from Sparkhill. Live in Somerset now.

Grew up in Brum in the forties, fifties, and sixties so surrounded by industry, Austin cars, Rover cars, Girling brakes, Joseph Lucas, BSA motorcycles, James motorcycles,Ariel motorcycles, Dawes cycles, Watsonian sidecars and on and on.

Sadly all gone now of course.

Got into model engineering when I retired from a lifetime in engineering.

Good luck with your hobby, this forum has a wealth of experience from people in all disciplines so you are unlikely to have a question that won't be answered.

                  Bill D.

Hi and welcome. I live in central Birmingham. In spite of Brum's engineering history there don't seem go be too many model engineers here so good to hear from you.

Not quite certain I can agree with you there – As far as clubs go there is the Elmdon MES at Wythall, Birmingham SMEE, Sutton Coldfield MES as well as clubs at Kinver and Wolverhampton that are not too far away.

Please PM me for more information on any of these – I am obviously not a member of them all, but I can certainly point you at the secretary of any that might be of interest.
