Welcome Brian. I hope you find retirement and home engineering as interesting as I do. Being retired keeps me so busy I've no idea how I ever had the time to do a proper job!

Welcome Brian (what a good name), I'm in complete agreement with Dave (Silly Old Duffer) about wondering how I ever found time to go to work!.

What sort of things are you hoping to make with you new workshop? Whatever it is,there is bound to be someone on here who can help with answers to questions.

Hi Brian. At the moment I'm still in the process of kitting out the machine tools and modifiying them to increase their flexibility. Installed I have a 6×26 VMC mill (Warco) which I'm planning to fit a 75mm riser black, power feed and 3 axis DRO. I purchased a chunky secondhand floor standing pillar drill with a few missing parts, handles etc and currently I have an Atlas 10D lathe which I'm in the process of upgrading to a GH1236. When that's all done I'll probably start building a Stuart engine, probably a Twin Victoria or a Half Beam. Later maybe a 4" traction engine or a 5" loco. How about you.?

Hello Brian, I've built a couple of 3" engines, a roller and a traction engine as depicted in my Avatar.. Also a Clayton waggon that was featured in an old ME Magazine.

I've moved on to 1 1/2 inch for a Burrell-Boydell road locomotive that I have been on with for years because of an interest in old cars, the present one being a 1931 Austin Seven.

Workshop these days consists of a Boxford lathe and a mill drill etc.

Hi Brian, I now see from your posted photos your engines and that very smart looking Austin Seven. I've always liked the variety of derivatives built in the Seven range. Regards, Brian

Hi everyone, just entered the forum, lived and breathed locomotives all my life, now reached my 70th birthday it's time to be thinking of steaming for fun, Have a friend whose building a 5"gauge Manor at the present time, and after some hair pulling moments over the last 3 years she's well on the way towards the track, If anyone can advise me on the easy route to oiling the inside cylinder on a 5" gauge Jubilee, It would be appreciated, Regards Patrick.
