I've alway been the type to tinker and play with things, but after recently finding a mini-lathe at a garage sale for $50, I've decided to scale my horizons. I'll probably ask a ton of dumb questions, but at least I know enough to search first and see if someone else has already asked.

Anyway, that's who I am, just wanted to say hi.

Hi – you've landed in the right place!

It'd be interesting to know what it is you tinker with. The forum has astronomers, electronics guys, radio hams, motorbike nuts, vintage car freaks, aviation nerds and thats before you get to a hard core of deeply experienced and highly skilled machinists, both amateur and professional. All more than willing to help out.

Oh, I forgot the beekeepers and clockmakers and operators of small gauge railways

            Steve

$ Canadian, Australian, or USA. Makes a difference to what is available for the next steps.

Welcome Hoverboard; there's never a dumb question, just a question you don't know the answer to yet.

                George.

Thanks for the support. I'm interested in several different areas, though electronics and woodworking are my current favorites

Looks as if HB is in USA if I've followed back through his ME profile correctly.
