I thought all of you with shallow pockets (that includes me) might be interested in this BARGAIN (I use the term lightly)

Spotted on face book – YEUMANO Auto mini metal lathe 8" x 16" 1100W 1.5hp metal gear brushless 2250 rpm 2 chucks and just about every accessary you could shake a stick at.

This is discounted from $179.99 to $96.98

Now I am not one for believing in fairies but the lathe looks very much like my Amadeal 210 + a whole lot more.

No! ~I have not ordered one (though I was tempted, especially with FREE delivery).

Yes! I know it is a scam but for the life of me I could not see what you would actually get – whatever it is is will NOT be worth $96.98

I have pasted the link here.

Facebook is full of scam adverts like this one

apparently most people are so embarrassed when they receive nothing like what they thought they were going to get they don’t take it any further …just put it down to their greed or stupidity

Suspect you will not get anything – only your credit card details harvested.

My work internet blocks that as being a "Very recently made website" and therefore a potential security risk.

There is something I would label a scam on eBay, the listing of a photo or box with the detail that what you are buying is a photo or a box not being in the main description, only lower down in the details. I am sure it is designed to catch out the unwary looking for a bargain. Clearly if you read the full details you will not part with your money but I bet there are some who will get caught out and keep quiet due to embarrassment.

Described as a mini lathe. With 8"/16" swing (depending on where you live) 1.5" bore & 1.5hp I hardly think so. Got to be a scam.

                  regards

Don't forget that the title says two chucks but in the description it only mentions a three jaw chuck that will hold round and square stock.

Did you also see the hidden extra watch fees lower down I bet this also applies to the lathe

Not just the lathe with 2 chucks, but the photo of (supposedly) what you get includes a QCTP with 4 holders, both steadies & measuring equipment. Bargain !

I would be more interested in the $69 Dell i7 laptops or the $89 car lift – what could possibly go wrong at those prices ! The Finkbeiner lift shown in the pictures actually costs something over €8000 – maybe what they are showing is actually the delivery cost ?

If you try and navigate the site, it quickly becomes clear it's a scam. Who sells heavy(ish) lathes and crab claws on the same web site (and not much else).

Another corker is the Stihl MS881 chainsaw they're selling at $89.99, when the price in the UK starts at around £1500 for the bare saw.

I'm not sure either what the words "Copyright 2022 © Costco" are doing at the bottom of the page, just under the page links headed "Customer Satisfactor" (sic) and "Intellecture (sic) Property Rights".

Facebook adverts confused me from the 1st time I looked at its "market place" for small items.

Sometimes the prize next to item is at a zero value in my currency, making it seems free. If I phone the number, thats not the case at all(Towns near me). Some prizes looks too low as well.

So I was wondering if Facebook themselves convert currencies, and that converter is not functioning well for some countries apart from possible scams-?

Machine looks pretty much like my DB8 – just the dial counter is missing. And I paid £1250 for it… And yes, it could do with a 1.5hp motor (the DB8 has 750W or 1 hp)…

So with the supposedly hidden watch fees it ends up charging your card $2380. I guess they hope you don't spot that down at the lower end of the page

Facebook marketplace is awash with scams and scammers. I've given up reporting them, there are just too many. It's about time companies like Facebook were held to account, it's their platform, they know it goes on and yet they seem to do nothing about it.

Yeumano gets a 30 per cent trust score on Scamwatch. Even Boris gets more than that.
