Does anybody know where I can obtain small armature stampings. I am looking to build my own permanent magnet motors for guage 1 locos. I have found sites for the magnets but have not had any success with the stampings.Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks for the smashing site and a Happy New Year to everybody.

      Regards

Would think the only sites for this sort of thing is now on the Chinese mainland.

                Hello Paul

I had a small batch of transformers made at http://www.custom-transformers.co.uk/ for our company they were very helpful you may be able to buy some standard stampings from them and modify them. Alternatively buy some transformers that have large enough laminations and reshape them to fit

                  Hi
Your best bet is to Google “motor laminations”. I just did and saw a couple of possible suppliers (at least) in the UK. The biggest problem would be you only needing a few and the tooling costs. You need to find a supplier that can use photo-etching, water jet or laser cutting to produce them rather than a punch and die. Having the latter made would probably cost more than buying all the motors you would ever need.

                    Hi Paul,
RC Groups (radio control planes mostly) has a lot of discussion on motors. One recent discussion on stator laminations is http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1157107
You can also buy stators from places like http://www.gobrushless.com

                    Bruce
