I  bought a Myford Super 7 with Q/C gearbox but should have taken someone more knowlegeable with me.

On closer inspection there is a full restoration needed.

I have refurbished the stand and replaced the electric motor.

Now I plan to completely strip it and send bed and carriage off to myfords for a regrind.

whilst stripped down I plan on a complete  repaint as well.

If there are any members in the Fareham Hampshire area that can offer assistance or a advice please let me know.

            Thanks Keith

            I will check back issues.

I am new to Model Engineering and it looks like I am taking the hard route to learning.

I have exactly the same lathe and I too live in Hampshire.  My lathe’s serial number is SK8878 which makes it’s date of manufacture the mid-50’s.  I  also plan to utilise Myford’s bed re-grinding service and would be interested in observing/assisting/learning from any restoration and also the preparatory dismantling.

I believe Richmond authored some articles on this very suibject in ME or MEW but the issued numbers escape me at the moment.

It might be feasible to  share costs in delivering/collecting our lathe beds to/from Myford.

                Hi Niloch

My Serial No is SK8171 which is 1955 according to Myford

Yes economy of scale would work in sending 2 at the same time.

If you are intersted I can palletise and ship using my company account with a carrier.

We can also load and unload pallet with forklift.

Alternatively we could share costs and drive up and collect once they are done

I purchased my lathe for £1200  but it included a number of extras including a Myford Collet chuck and collets. so I am guessing the price was about right

                        Hello keithmart,

I refurbished my Myford ML7 last year and covered the refurbishment on my website. There may be something of use to you so have a look at http://www.mikes-models.com/ccmyfordrefurb.html

                        Mike.

If you have any questions then please email me. I also intend to send my lathe away for a regrind later this year. One thing the refurbishment gave me was the confidence to strip the lathe down.

                        Kindest regards, Mike
