      Hi,

I posted here sometime back when I was trying to deal with all the machinery left in my Late fathers workshop and you offered some really helpful advice, I’m hoping you can help me out again. I’ve managed to move all the machinery onto local hobbyists who seem genuinely happy with their what they bought, and I’m happy it’s all getting used again.

I’m down to the last couple of boxes and have found 2 casting sets for model engines, I’ve been through the huge amount of paper work he had for various engines, and I think I have identified the instructions that belong with these 2, but I’m not 100%. I also can’t find any parts lists to confirm they are all there. Is anyone able to help me confirm what i’ve got here please? Also, if parts were missing are they of any use? My intention was to list them as an eBay auction and see if they get any interest, but at this point I’m not exactly sure what I’m listing!

I think the first set is “Trevithick’s dredger engine”, it’s got a folder with several large schematics and pages out of the Model engineer Magazine from 1988

I think the second set is a “four column beam engine” again this one has a folder with many pages from Model engineer magazines from 1977

I would Really appreciate  any advice on this as i am very much out of my depth!

The first image is not the Trevithick, if you could turn the large aluminium casting No1 the other way up that would help confirm what it is.

The other images are of the ME Beam Engine and that is not the four column one that is the subject of the last magazine image.

I think the first one is the Ransome and May https://www.hemingwaykits.com/category-97

Thanks for the help, I’ve just taken an extra picture of the other side of that casting if that helps?

So you think the first one is this? https://www.ajreeves.com/model-engineer-beam-engine-me-beam.html

I’ve been through the documents i have here and can’t see anything by those 2 names, although it’s possible they are tucked away in a folder i haven’t found yet.

Yes that is the base casting of the Ransome and May

There are a couple of companies that sell the ME Beam but Reeves that you link to is the most common source

I’ve just been over and had another rummage now I have more idea what I’m looking for and found these 2 folders – you were spot on, thanks for your help.

One of them is missing 3 pieces, I seem to remember him talking about this and that the company never sent them. Even with highlighted parts missing are they still of value to someone?

That sounds par for the course with Brunell

Still popular models particularly the beam and any new owner could buy the missing parts from Reeves
