Help, I have just found out that a polythene pressure barrel full with 5 gallons of homebrewed ale has sprung a small leak on a top seam. How can I repair it without emptying the barrel, this is beer for christmas.

Soldering iron and weld/melt it back together. Or just lay on your back under the leak

Tilt the barrel so the leak is uppermost, and you will lose pressure but not ale. In the process you might find that it is an excess of pressure that is causing the leak to be significant. With luck you should be able to keep the ale in good condition overnight while you spend Monday buying a new barrel. Then add a spoonful of sugar to start fermentation again and put some life back into the product.

Do please stay sober enough to let us all know how you get on …

Gorilla Tape, Stick a small piece in the middle of the piece you stick to the barrel so the the adhesive is isolated from the ale, Please Drink Responsibly!

Luckly the leak is above the beer level,I will try the soldering iron method. Only loosing Co2.

Throw it out now. If it's anything like my uncle Arthur's brew it'll be vile and underpin what already promises to be a dismal Christmas.

                    Get round the 'offy'.

Use a zip clip as a filler when you melt the barrel with the soldering iron. Works fantasticly.

That is not an emergency. That is a catastrophe!! Any little Dutch Boys in the neighborhood?

                          Cheers
