I have always been interested in how things work and how they are made. I found an old copy of practical wireless in an abandoned house when I was a young teen and was immediately fascinated since I never realized till then that making such things was possible for an ordinary person.
Eventually studied electronics (City & Guilds then HND) which led inevitably to software and microcontrollers. Was kidnapped and forced to write database applications for a number of years which at least bought me a place to live. I never wanted to move away from the countryside so my options were always limited.
Up till now my mechanical efforts to accompany my controller programming have been very ropey affairs which is what I am wanting to improve. I now have the use of a Myford ML7 and a BCA jig borer (in need of tooling) along with a few other basic essentials.
My first ambition is just to be able to make some small and precise things.
Here is hoping.
Cheers.
