Hello Everyone.
Having just bought my first mill, it’s time for me to stop anonymously browsing the forum and say ‘Hello, and thank you for all the invaluable info I’ve read so far.’
I'm very new to machining and whilst I wouldn’t normally describe myself as a model-maker, I do have some projects that I’d like to build that put me more in the smaller scale of engineering. I hope I’m in the right place.
Some 25+ years ago I worked as an engineer for the first 3D rapid prototyping company. In the beginning it was all lasers and resin known as Stereolithography and then we developed the early additive based printers. I always knew one day those ~£2m machines would end up costing just a few hundred pounds and sit on your desktop. I’ve had a little Creality 3d printer for a while and love it.
With my background being more automated than manual, I expected to want to convert my new mill into a CNC straight away, but having just manually machined my very first parts… I’m hooked! Who’d have known making a couple of simple vice clamps would give so much satisfaction.
Anyway, that’s me. I have lots of questions to ask the experts!
