Just joined the forums after a few days lurking and reading other's posts, so I thought I'd better introduce myself.
Having always been interested in mechanical and electrical things, and had reasonable success in fixing some of them, I have now reached a point where (in theory) I should have a bit more spare time to tidy up the garage and to actually be able to get back to the workbench after years of 'proper' work intervening.
I do have an ML7 which I acquired years ago, on which I have produced some useful, but not exactly precision, bits and pieces for a kit-car I assembled about twenty years back – things like bonnet hinge pins and handbrake pivots – but it needs setting up properly. I also inherited a drill-press from a friend, but only a cheap and nasty one (the drill-press, that is )
I'm sure I'll learn lots from from this forum and look forward to doing so.

I've been using a cheap and nasty drill press for over 20 years. It does what's needed, and I can't see that spending money on a better one would be justified, until it becomes unusable.
Murray – near the new Booths supermarket, so we are possibly within walking distance of each other.
Mike – absolutely, it's probably not as bad as I've described in any case, and it has to be preferable to a hand drill. Now, I just have to tidy the immediate area to the stage where I can use it without having to balance one foot on an old car battery whilst supporting a bicycle with my elbow.
