        Hi All

I'm a professional mechanical engineer whose day job now involves spreadsheets, project plans people herding and customer pacification.

I have a home workshop as I can’t escape the need to create.

Workshop? Big enough to require a crane and a lorry when I next move and benefiting from a previous life in the toolmaking/injection moulding world. Mostly old tech. and manual operation.

Interests? Historically some jig, fixture and prototype work, general repair and fabrication – it supported numerous projects for a 60’s E- type powered, wooden powerboat rebuild, and if I’m truly honest, a cast iron collecting habit.

Hi Ian welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have a workshop I would love to have but what machinery do you have, I bet you have a Bridgeport. What sort of cast iron do you collect?

Old and three phase is the answer to your second question!

I do indeed have a Bridgeport, with slotting attachment. M300 lathe. Slowly being tooled with accessories

Clarkson tool and cut grinder, refurbished, typically lightly used like most T&C grinders

Praga surface grinder. J&S 540 clone

Myford MG12 cylindrical grinder- being recommissioned

Taylor-Hobson engraver. Not my desired die sinker and for no obvious reason

Arboga pedestal drill. Lovey, but mostly unused as the mill has a DRO

Circular cut off saw. Helpful, but I wonder if a bandsaw gets me bigger size capability.

            Modern British MIG and TIG.
